VyStar Credit Union has been named to the Foundry’s Computerworld 2024 Best Places to Work in IT list, which ranks the top 100 work environments for technology professionals. Now in its 30th year, Computerworld publisher Foundry’s Computerworld surveyed large, midsize, and small organizations to find the top IT employers. The award recognizes employers that challenge their staff and provide great benefits and compensation.
VyStar, which made the list for the fourth consecutive year, ranked seventh among midsize organizations, moving up the list from ninth. Rankings were determined based on a comprehensive questionnaire regarding company offerings in categories such as benefits, career development, DEI, future of work, training, and retention. Additionally, the rankings are reviewed and vetted by a panel of industry experts. VyStar also ranked third in Diversity, fourth in IT Growth and Employee Engagement and fifth in Career Development.
"We are incredibly honored to be recognized as one of the top 100 Best Places to Work in IT by the Foundry's Computerworld 2024 list,” said VyStar Chief Information Officer Lisa Cochran. “At VyStar, we are committed to providing a challenging and rewarding work environment that encourages innovation and growth. Our IT team works diligently to utilize advanced technologies to enhance our product and service offerings to support our growth model. This recognition is a testament to our team's hard work and dedication to delivering exceptional results for our members and to making VyStar a great place to work."
VyStar’s IT employees work with numerous advanced technologies across its 74 branches and headquarters. These include artificial intelligence, robotic process automation, data analytics and cloud technology. The team has successfully utilized these technologies to enhance VyStar’s product and services offerings and to support its growth model, which included six branch openings in 2023 and more slated for this year.
Additionally, VyStar offers all employees a robust benefits package, which includes paid time off, medical/dental insurance and 401(k) with company match. Other benefits include parental/family care leave, child adoption assistance, student loan payoff stipends, upfront tuition assistance and paid time off for volunteering. Employees are encouraged to take part in VyStar’s diversity and inclusion discussion series and participate in any of the organization’s 12 employee resource groups. IT team members also can participate in challenges to augment their skillsets and have access to online classes where they can earn certifications and learn more about technology.
“Technology is playing an increasingly important role in modern business. IT professionals continue to benefit from this trend, as this year’s winning organizations increase staffing and offer a variety of pathways to upskill, reskill, and diversify their teams.” said Rob O’Regan, global director, content strategy, Foundry. “These companies provide a model for IT and HR leaders who are looking for new ways to attract, engage, and retain talent in an increasingly competitive IT environment.”
In addition to supporting its own employees, VyStar is committed to advancing STEM opportunities for students. VyStar supports nonprofits such as Tech Sassy Girlz in Orlando to teach young leaders about the career opportunities in IT. Another recent initiative included hosting students from a Jacksonville high school at the credit union’s headquarters to meet with various IT employees and learn about their careers.
