If you haven't used contactless payments before, now is a great time to start. Contactless payments are fast, convenient and secure. You can use them at all kinds of locations, from the gas station to the grocery store. And as the name implies, you don’t need to touch the card reader when you make a contactless payment. That means that you touch fewer surfaces, which reduces your exposure to contagions and protects your health.
How to Make a Contactless Payment
Using a contactless card is simple. Just find the contactless symbol on the reader and hold your card over it. Once your transaction is approved, you’re good to go — there's no need to sign a credit slip. And if you don’t see the contactless symbol on the reader, you can still swipe or insert your card as you typically would.

The process for using a mobile wallet to pay with apps like Apple Pay and Google Pay is similar. When you are ready to pay, open your mobile wallet, select your card and hold it near the reader. Your app will ask you to verify the transaction with fingerprint or facial verification or your passcode, your transaction will be completed.
Protect Yourself from Fraud
Contactless payments are especially secure, since your name, billing address and card verification code are never transmitted. Instead, a unique code is made for each transaction, which decreases the likelihood of fraud because it is difficult for fraudsters to duplicate the unique code and steal your information. VyStar already offers security features like fraud alerts that flag suspicious activity on your card, and contactless payments add another layer of protection.
How to Get a Contactless Card
Any time we issue a new VyStar credit or debit card — whether your current card is expired, lost or stolen — you’ll get a new card with the contactless feature already embedded into it.
