The Nominating Committee has completed their application review process of candidates applying for the three open Board of Directors positions, each for a three-year term, commencing on March 27, 2019.
Members of the Nominating Committee appointed to consider all eligible applicants and select three candidates were: George R. Berry, Chairman; Jennifer A. Lusk, Vice Chairman; Janell Ussery, Member; P.E. (Ted) Hewitt, Member; and Willie Williams, Member.
The committee nominated the following three candidates, whose names are presented in alphabetical order: Eric J. Hatfield; Susan M. Ruffin, Ph.D.; and William C. Vivian.
There will be no election conducted by ballot and no nominations from the floor when there is only one nominee for each position to be filled. Nominations for vacancies may also be made by qualified petition starting on October 1, 2018.

Members interested in becoming candidates may now utilize the petition method. Qualified petitioners must be a member first named on the Primary Savings Account; at least 21 years of age; a member in good standing for at least two full years (before July of the year in which applications are accepted); and willing to serve in a volunteer capacity and available to attend monthly meetings (held in Jacksonville, Florida).
All completed applications, biographical information and petitions containing the names, addresses, dates of birth, last four digits of their Social Security numbers, and signatures of 500 eligible VyStar members must be received by the Chairman, Audit Committee (P.O. Box 7417, Jacksonville, FL 32238, or email firstname.lastname@example.org), no later than 5:00 p.m. (EST) on November 30, 2018, to be validated. If no other candidates qualify by petition, the three open positions will be filled as selected by the Nominating Committee and will be formally announced at the 2019 Annual Meeting to be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2019, at 5:00 p.m. (EST) at VyStar Credit Union’s Corporate Headquarters/Cascone Building, located at 4949 Blanding Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32210.
Eric J. Hatfield (Incumbent)
By utilizing my background in accounting and finance in industry and credit unions, I can bring to the Board a commitment to listen and then assist in team building and quality improvement to VyStar Credit Union.
Susan M. Ruffin, Ph.D. (Incumbent)
Holds: Ph.D. degree, master’s degree and Bachelor of Science degree. Completed 20 years in higher education in universities and schools throughout the U.S. Holds: Certifications in school principals, clinical teacher supervision and others.
William C. Vivian (Incumbent)
Captain William C. Vivian is a U.S. Naval Academy graduate and a Naval Aviator with 30 years of active duty in the Navy. Currently, Mr. Vivian is the Secretary of the VyStar Board of Directors. Mr. Vivian and his wife, Linda, reside in Ormond Beach, Florida.
