All VyStar Offices will be Closed on January 21, 2019, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
Here at VyStar, the credit union philosophy of “people helping people” is at the core of everything we do. Aside from providing affordable and accessible financial services to the communities of Northeast to Central Florida, we also support our communities through charitable donations, volunteerism and sponsorship. Giving a helping hand is especially important to us during the holiday season, when the less fortunate need it most.
Throughout the months of November and December, VyStar Credit Union partnered with various charitable organizations across Northeast Florida to help bring holiday cheer to those in need. VyStar’s branches and corporate headquarters served as drop-off locations for clothing, food and toy donations for these very important causes:
Mister Rogers’ Sweater Drive
After helping to collect more than 15,000 gently used sweaters, blankets and other warm clothing throughout the month of November for the Mister Rogers’ Sweater Drive, VyStar employees personally hand-delivered the donations to the needy at Jacksonville’s Clara White Mission on December 6th.
Feeding Northeast Florida
From November 15th through December 1st, VyStar collected 1,346 pounds of non-perishable foods for local children, families, seniors and veterans who struggle to put food on the table. All food donations were distributed by Feeding Northeast Florida to a network of over 160 social service agencies in eight Northeast Florida counties.
Toys for Tots
In partnership with Action News Jax Family Focus, VyStar collected new, unwrapped toys—including dolls, games, action figures and more—between December 5th and December 15th to benefit the Toys for Tots program. The Action News Jax team helped distribute the gifts to more than 26,000 local children in need for the holiday season.
Teddy Bears on Patrol
For the second year in a row, VyStar teamed up with the Teddy Bears on Patrol program to provide the Jacksonville Sherriff’s Office (JSO) with teddy bears that officers can give to children they may encounter when responding to calls. From November 20th to December 8th, VyStar employees collected 112 teddy bears, which will give local children something comforting to hold on to during traumatic events.
VyStar wishes everyone a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year, and we look forward to continuing to serve our members and communities in 2018 and beyond.
