By: Brian Wolfburg, President/CEO, VyStar Credit Union
As the new President/CEO of VyStar Credit Union, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and explain what you can expect from my first weeks and months at VyStar.
First, I am honored that VyStar’s Board of Directors has placed their trust in me to lead and to work side by side with them and the staff. I am committed to working hard every day to honor the legacy of this great credit union and to help it achieve its ultimate potential. VyStar has a history of excellent member service, consistent growth, financial success and strong leadership, as well as an outstanding reputation within the community and industry. This is something we should all be proud of, and something for which I am thankful as a new member of the community and the credit union. Because of VyStar’s great foundation, we have limitless possibility ahead of us.
Before looking forward, I want to congratulate Terry West, Retired President/CEO of VyStar, on a long and successful career and wish him all the best in his retirement. Terry surrounded himself with a great team, and I appreciate all they have done for the credit union. Specifically, I would like to thank Kathy Bonaventura for stepping in as Interim President/CEO and guiding the credit union for several months, especially during an eventful hurricane season.
I have spent my first weeks as President/CEO listening and learning from the staff and our members. I am tirelessly working to visit each of our 45 branches and get out in our communities. As the credit union is running efficiently and doing well, I do not plan to make any quick decisions or drastic changes. I want to honor VyStar’s reputation as one of the top employers, mortgage lenders and philanthropic companies in Northeast Florida to Central Florida, and I also strive to learn and make educated decisions that will move the credit union forward for our members, our staff and the communities we serve.
While staying true to our tradition of excellence, I also want to assure you that we are going to continue to evolve and innovate as our members’ needs change. I am intently focused on helping our members reach their financial goals by offering competitive products and services at the lowest rates, delivered by top-rate employees at best-in-class branches and ATMs. By weaving together our rich history and modern technology, it is my goal for VyStar to be known as the best place to do business and the best place to work, and I look forward to helping our members and communities prosper.
Being an active partner in the community and helping people of all ages learn more about financial services is also very important to me both as an individual and as a President/CEO. The impact of VyStar’s support within our local communities is significant and much needed. I will continue to grow our support of local residents, businesses and charitable organizations, while deepening our relations within the expanding communities we serve. Financial literacy will also remain a priority for VyStar moving forward. Our plans for growing our High School Credit Union Branch Program remain on track for 2018 and years to come.
In closing, I want to thank you for your membership. I am proud to be a part of the VyStar community, and I look forward to meeting many of you as I get to know our credit union and the communities we serve.
